Lady GaGa, Wyclef Jean and Lil Wayne have joined the galaxy of stars coming together to record a remake of the classic 1985 benefit song “We Are The World”!

There are over 80 confirmed entertainers on the track including: Janet Jackson, P!nk, Usher, Jason Mraz, Akon, Robin Thicke, Celine Dion, Enrique Iglesias, Rob Thomas, Jeff Bridges, Vince Vaughn, Barbra Streisand, Jordin Sparks, Good Charlotte’s Madden brothers, Tony Bennett, Josh Groban, Justin Bieber, Sean Garrett, Will.I.Am, Carlos Santana, Melanie Fiona, Toni Braxton, Jason Mraz, Miley Cyrus, Nicole Scherzinger, Nicole Richie, Julianne Hough, Raphael Saadiq, Zac Brown, India.Arie, Randy Jackson, Musiq Soulchild, Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson, Fonzworth Bentley, the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson and Al Jardine, Trey Songz, Faith Evans, Mya, Gladys Knight, Jennifer Hudson, Keri Hilson, Tyrese, Katharine McPhee, Brandy, Mary Mary, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, the Jonas Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Rashida Jones, Ethan Bortnick, Natalie Cole, BeBe Winans, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, T-Pain, Wyclef Jean, Kid Cudi, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Bizzy Bone, Nipsey Hussle, Busta Rhymes, Haitian-born Heroes actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, former Michael Jackson guitarist Orianthi, Patti Austin, RedOne, Slumdog Millionaire film score composer A.R. Lionel Richie, who co-wrote the charity single with Michael Jackson, is working with Quincy Jones, the song’s original producer, to organize the 25th anniversary remake to benefit Haiti relief.

In a statement, Jones said, “Twenty five years ago, the entertainment industry showed the power of community to help our fellow man when we recorded ‘We Are The World’ to bring relief to those suffering from famine in Ethiopia. And while the need to assistant Africa continues, today the country of Haiti is suffering immeasurably from the destruction due to the recent earthquake and is in immediate need of relief that will last long after the television cameras have left. As artists, we have joined together on this 25th anniversary and in the spirit of ‘We Are The World’ to help meet that need.”

GRAMMY-winner RedOne was also excited about getting started on the project…

“It’s like, the biggest honor in life to get a call from our father in music Quincy Jones, and Lionel Richie, and Randy Phillips to actually as me to help produce the new version of ‘We Are the World’ and I remember when I was a kid listening to that song over and over again. Michael Jackson, all these people and suddenly like 25 years later I’m the one that’s gonna be helping to produce that. It’s the biggest honor and this is the greatest like, occasion I mean to do something for people for Haiti.”

The original “We Are the World” was recorded in 1985 and brought together artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner and Cyndi Lauper to aid famine victims in Africa.

The world premiere of “We Are the World – 25 for Haiti”, along with the accompanying 3D video, will air during NBC’s coverage of the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver Winter Olympics on Friday, February 12th.
