Justin Bieber: Then & NOW
Your boy and ours, Canadian singing star Justin Drew Bieber, began making girls swoon way back in 2007 and got noticed in the world by putting talent show videos up on his YouTube page.
Justin recently explained to MTV News how that got started…
It all started when when Justin was only 12-years-old. While teaching himself how to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet; Justin entered a singing competition in Ontario, Canada and placed second. “I did one talent show and that’s kinda what sparked it. I did a talent show and I put the video of the talent show up on YouTube and that’s what kinda put everything together”, the now 15-year old told MTV. “I always knew I wanted to be in the spotlight. I always liked the attention.”

A former record executive discovered his videos and flew Justin to Atlanta, GA, where he met with R&B heavyweight, Usher. A week later Justin was given the opportunity to sing for Usher who immediately became interested, giving him an audition with Antonio L.A. Reid at Island Records who signed him in October 2008.

Since then, Justin has uploaded a ton of videos to the video sharing site and has steadily gathered a virtual army of screaming tween girls, ready to take over the world at a moment’s notice.

Justin had four hit singles prior to his debut album even being released: “One Time”, “One Less Lonely Girl”, “Love Me”, and “Favorite Girl”, which were all Top 15 hits on the Canadian Hot 100 and Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. This made Justin the only solo artist in Billboard history to have four singles from a debut album chart in the Top 40 of the Hot 100 before the album’s release
The first single “One Time” reached number 12 on the Canadian Hot 100 during its first week in July 2009, and number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Part One of Justin’s debut album, My World, has sold over 350-thousand copies since its release in November 2009.
