The Black Eyed Peas, without a doubt, locked down 2009 as their year…
The group shattered records by scoring the number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 26 weeks. Their single “I Gotta Feeling” held the top spot for 14 straight weeks after surpassing their own “Boom Boom Pow”, which was at the top of the chart for 12 weeks. The band owned the number one song from June 13th through October 10th… and then came the hit “Meet Me Halfway”. Is there no stopping the peas?
Will.i.am recently told MTV News that the band worked very hard for their success this year…
“To have the number one song for six months is a big accomplishment and we thank all of our fans out there and out team, management and record company for going out there and trying new things, especially in this day and age with the music industry the way it is with no record stores.”
The Peas are kicking off a huge arena tour on February 4th and will.i.am says they’re rocking a party vibe at the big venues…
“When we start the tour February 4th, we start in North America, but we are gonna have a hundred shows all around the globe. We are gonna do a bunch of cool things by having our fans be a part of the backstage experience, even if they are not there online on dipdive.com, we’re gonna have a pre-party before we go onstage, we’re turning the whole arena into a club.”
The Black Eyed Peas are up for six GRAMMY awards including Album of the Year for The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies). They kick off their tour in Atlanta, Georgia on February 4th.
