Brittany MurphySometimes you see a headline and you think “That can’t be right”… That’s how I felt when I saw that Brittany Murphy died.

Early Sunday morning the paramedics were called to the home Murphy, 32, shared with her husband Simon Monjack in Los Angeles. The actress was rushed to Ceder-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The cause of death is listed as cardiac arrest.

Folks inside the home were saying that Murphy was taking massive amounts of prescriptions for flu-like symptoms the weeks before her death. She had told her family that she felt ill, and had been vomitting the morning of her death.

Brittany’s mom also told paramedics that her daughter had diabetes. It’s said that there were a lot of medications in Murphy’s home, but all of them were legal.

Something about this rings familiar… Michael Jackson, anyone?

Murphy became a household name as the adorable underdog turned popular hottie in Clueless, and well, maintained hottie status well into her adult years and roles. More recently she starred in Sin City, and Little Black Book. Murphy also lended her voice to the character of Luanne in King of the Hill.

Last month, Murphy’s hubby, Monjack was rushed to the hospital straight from a flight from LAX. He was reported to be unresponsive and not breathing, but EMTs were able to revive him.

This all sounds sketchy to me. Murphy was way too young for to have a heart attack, and based on her tiny frame, I’m guessing her arteries weren’t what one would call clogged.

I think a Murphy themed movie marathon may be on the Christmas agenda. Rest in Peace Brit.

Brittany Murphy Through the Years:

Editor’s Note:

One of my favorite conversations from Clueless:

CluelessTai (Brittany Murphy): I could really use some sort of herbal refreshment.
Dionne: Oh, well we do lunch in ten minutes. We don’t have any tea, but we have Coke and stuff.
Tai: No s**t. You guys got Coke here?
Dionne: Well, yeah.
Cher: Yeah, this is America.

Anyway…

Ashton Kutcher, who dated and costarred with Murphy in 2003′s romantic comedy, Just Married, posted a message on his Twitter account Sunday morning about Murphy’s death, saying “2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine” – “My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon.”

Her Clueless co-star Alicia Silverstone told People.com, “I always felt connected to her as we shared a very special experience in our lives together. I feel love in my heart for her and hope she is at peace. This is truly sad.”

Lindsay Lohan wrote on Twitter, “My deepest condolences go out to all of Brittany Murphy’s loved ones and may she rest in peace. She was a great talent with a beautiful soul. X-0.”

Jessica Simpson wrote on her Twitter, “Brittany Murphy was an incredible ray of Light to so many people. Her smile was contagious. My prayers are with her family and loved ones.”
