MTA to Cut Service
Man, the MTA is just not going to get a holiday card from me this year…
A few weeks ago, it was sworn to the New York transportation riding public that there would be no fare increases or service cuts this year.
They lied, they hate us.
It seems like someone in charge of MTA tax revenue for the State miscalculated revenue for the MTA by $200 million, meaning there’s a lot less in the MTA’s financial reserves than originally thought. $200 million is a pretty big oversight if you ask me. Since the MTA has a new plan to only increase prices every other year, the only way they can think to cut expenses is to cut service.
What that means is that some subway lines will close over night and there will be less frequent trains all around, and some bus routes will be eliminated all together. If you thought your morning commute was hell now, well you ain’t seen nothing yet! Get ready for lots of standing and squishing with your fellow New Yorkers. The subway is about to get personal.
Thanks MTA, you’re the best!
