Sexy-as-hell Barbadian singer Rihanna sure had some year in 2009. It was a year of extreme highs and even more extreme lows…
Back in February, Rihanna’s scheduled performance at the 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards was cancelled due to an “altercation” with her then boyfriend, singer Chris Brown, who was later arrested for assaulting her.
Rihanna recently spoke with MTV News and says that she’s learned a lot over the last year and has been helping young women deal with abuse:
“One of the big things for me is that I always want to help young women and give them insight on different life experiences and one of those things is going through an abusive relationship, like I did. But that is just one thing to me, so I don’t want to be a big domestic violence spokesperson, because that doesn’t define who I am. But if I can help young women in any way and that is one of the things I can help with then I’ll do that.”
And Rihanna knows that Brown has learned from this experience:
“Well, I know he is going away something positive out of this experience. It was a life-changing experience for both of us. The best way that we can both win is if we come out learning from it and sharing with others so they don’t have to go through it like we did.”

Rihanna actually had a reason to be in the news in 2009 aside from the assault. She collaborated with Jay-Z and Kanye West on Jay’s hit song “Run This Town”, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in December.

Also, her fourth album, Rated R, hit record stores in November and has, so far, garnered her two smash singles; the dark and ominous “Russian Roulette” and the ghetto fabulous “Hard” featuring Young Jeezy.

DJ Earworm has done it again!!!
Another year, another year-end mashup, once again consisting of the top 25 most popular songs of 2009, according to Billboard Magazine.
DJ Earworm has been mashing up the top pop songs of the year for three years now and the tracks just keep getting better! Below we have his follow-up to last year’s United State of Pop 2008 (Viva La Pop) and the original United State of Pop from 2007.
Depending on where you’re spending your night tonight, you may be pleasantly surprised by a free (or mostly free) cab ride home, courtesy of Diddy and CIROC Ultra Premium Vodka.
They have teamed up to distribute over 13,000 debit cards for $15 to New Year’s partiers in high traffic celebration efforts. Diddy says “As the ‘Official Vodka of New Year’s Eve,’ we have a responsibility to remind everyone to get home safely on this most celebratory of nights.”
New Year’s is notoriously the hardest night to catch a cab, and it looks like things are going to get more competitive. Sharpen your elbows folks, tis time to get your cab wave and whistle on.
I know some people who are really psyched about this, the people that clean up the subway the morning after. Yeah, I wouldn’t want that job on January 1st.

Have a Happy New Year Everyone!
You’d think that things couldn’t get more nasty between Jon Gosselin and Hailey Glassman, after all one of them robbed their shared apartment. But, in typical Gosselin manner, they are.
Hailey Glassman is now stating that Jon was physically violent to her during their relationship. The incident in question is under police investigation and happened when Jon found a picture of Hailey kissing boxing promoter Damon Feldman. Jon apparently became upset and slammed Hailey into a wall. To clarify, Hailey says she had already told Jon it was over after he had cheated on her.
Hailey has confessed in television interviews that Jon was verbally abusive to her, but this is the first accusation of physical violence associated with Gosselin.
In response, Jon’s lawyer said, “Jon is a lover, not a fighter. He’s been rumored to steal a kiss here and there, but he has never been accused of landing a sucker punch.”
Ooh, classy. Let’s hope those adorable tykes of his don’t know how to use the internet.

Today is Tiger Wood’s 34th Birthday…
Happy Birthday Tiger, let’s hope that you don’t systematically destroy what’s left of your your career and life this year.
He’s off to a good start… It’s rumored that Tiger has checked into a rehab facility in Arizona to combat his sex addiction (or to recoup after having facial surgery – or both). This is the same rehab facility David Duchovny went to last year when his sexual problems went a little too far.
For Tiger, most likely this little stint in rehab is nothing more than an effort by his handlers to salvage what’s left of his public image. “They feel that if he blames his cheating on addiction, the public will forgive him.”
What does one do in sex compulsion rehab, anyways?
Do you need to admit that you are powerless, and that there’s a higher power that you may or may not want to spoon with in the middle of the night?
I wonder if Rachel Uchitel will be allowed in for non-conjugal visits.

Apparently, after three months of hot and heavy dating (read: frozen yogurt dates with mom) the two Taylors, Swift and Lautner, have called off their puppy-love romance.
“It wasn’t really developing into anything, and wasn’t going to, so they decided they were better as friends,” a source close to Swift, told Us Magazine. “There was no chemistry.”
The dynamically hot duo met on the set of their soon-to-be-released chick flick, Valentine’s Day, and first sparked rumors of romance when she hugged him at a concert in Rosemont, Illinois. Both Taylors confirmed (sort of) their relationship on separate Saturday Night Live hosting gigs.
Allegedly, the relationship officially ended when the boy Taylor, known for taking off his shirt in the Twilight saga, flew to Nashville for the girl Taylor’s birthday party on Dec. 13th. “He liked her more than she liked him,” a friend of Swift said. “He went everywhere he could to see her, but she didn’t travel much to see him.”

Personally, I’m glad to see these two call it off. The boy Taylor is a karate expert and I was having a hard time luring him into stairways so I could push him down them. Now that I don’t have to worry about him, I can finally focus on making the girl Taylor mine.
I’m thinking a crumb trail of sorts should work for her…

I don’t know this woman but I love her…
Leanne Joseph of West Yorkshire, England found out a few days before Christmas that her boyfriend was cheating on her. Not only was he doing the deed with someone else… but that someone else just happened to be a good friend of hers.
Ouch!
Leanne tossed her man to the curb (no word on the friend), kept the presents he got her for Christmas and decided to auction them off on eBay, still fully wrapped.
Leanne didn’t even peek – so the lucky bidder, who dropped $55o bucks on the bundle, is in for a surprise. Leanne promises the goodies will be worth it because although he’s a jerk, her ex was a good gift giver. Everyone needs at least one redeeming characteristic.
Her awesomeness doesn’t end there, Leanne promised to give the proceeds to a local charity.
Simply put: Leanne Joseph of Britain is my hero.

Okay, so that’s not entirely true…
The woman, Raina Kumra, was injured when a mounted moose-head fell on her at the White Slab Palace on Delancey.
This all went down in October, but Ms. Kumra’s lawsuit is being processed now. She’s claiming that the restaurant popular with hipsters LES-wide, maintained an unsafe environment, and not only was she hurt by the falling Moose, but she was embarrassed.
The 150 pounds, 3 foot wide moose head (I’m assuming the 3 feet were predominately made up of antlers), caused the 32-year old woman has claimed to have impaired cognitive skills, suffered chronic neck pain, fatigue, dizziness and anxiety since the experience. She’s suing the restaurants owner Annika Sundvik for an undisclosed sum.

Tyra Banks has never made bones about wanting to be Oprah, which is why it’s kind of strange that when Oprah announced her talk show was ending, Tyra announced her talk show was ending, too.
Tyra, I’m just going to give you a wee bit of career advice here, you’ll get more of Oprah’s market share if you’re still on the air when she leaves.
Tyra, like Oprah, isn’t actually leaving the limelight, she’s just running her own show. Tyra is set to stop taping The Tyra Banks Show, the talk show focused mainly around girl power and self empowerment, in the Spring. After that, her efforts will be focused around Bankable Studios, her new production company that will do pretty much the same thing.
Tyra’s on a mission ladies, she’s going to save your self esteem through movies, and more modeltastic TV shows. Thank you Tyra, there was a second there I thought about smiling with my mouth, but now, now I know to smile with my eyes.

Poor Jake Gyllenhaal, he’s had a bad couple of weeks. First he and Reese Witherspoon called it quits, which put an end to their adorable two-year relationship. Now, Jake is coming from a broken home.
Director, Stephen Gyllenhaal, and producer Naomi Foner, the parental units of Jake and Maggie decided on Christmas Eve that their 32-year marriage just wasn’t working out.
Maggie’s still married though, so at least one Gyllenhaal that’s still going strong.
Their divorce is simple enough because their kids are grown, so no child support is needed. Instead they split their belongings in half and went their separate ways. If only all divorces could be that simple.
Still, it’s sad when a long term marriage ends, at least they have their son to lick their wounds with.
